The parents of a young fashion magazine editor are crediting Jesus Christ for saving their daughter's life after she walked into the propeller of an airplane.
Lauren Scruggs, 23, had just gotten off a single-engine plane near Dallas Saturday when somehow she walked into the whirling blades.
The propeller sliced the left side of her face and shoulder and also severed her left hand.
Lauren's parents are still in shock about what happened, but they are using the tragedy as a way to proclaim their faith.
"First I'd like to say that it's been a tough, obviously, couple of days," Jeff Scruggs, Lauren's father, said.
"We just want to give great glory to God who brought us through all this," he added. "We have a strong faith in Jesus Christ as does our daughter Lauren. She's going to be on a tough road. It's going be a long way back."
"What she'd tell you is her relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing in her life," Mr. Scruggs continued. "Even though she cannot talk I know she's relying on Jesus right now."
Lauren Scruggs has undergone multiple reconstructive surgeries since Saturday. She is now in intensive care.
