The Christmas season means many family friendly movies are hitting your local neighborhood theatre.
The animated "Alvin and the Chipmunks movie "Chipwrecked" premieres on screens around the country Friday. The comedy stars Jason Lee and David Cross.
The Chipmunks and The Chipettes go on a cruise trip with the Chipmunks' owner/manager/father figure, Dave Seville. Eventually, their chaotic behavior gets them ship wrecked on a desert island.
Also this weekend, Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law reprise their respective roles of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the new crime adventure "Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows."
Director Steven Spielberg brings the new movie "War Horse" to theatres Christmas Day. The movie is based on "War Horse", a children's novel set during World War I by British author Michael Morpurgo.
The film was nominated for a Golden Globe award on Thursday by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
