MTV is a network that constantly demeans women with its programming, according to a recent study by the Parents Television Council.
The watchdog group assessed MTV's top-rated reality television shows, including "The Real World," "Jersey Shore," "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant."
PTC researchers said only 24 percent of what the women on these shows said about themselves on those shows was positive.
It was also found that women engage in 88 percent of the shows sexual dialogue and insult each other more than men on the shows.
"After many years of pursuing equality for women, the findings of today's study suggest a glamorized, but grossly distorted view of what it means to be feminine," PTC president Tim Winter said in a statement. "Compared to men, women were far more degrading to themselves and other females."
Jersey Shore accounted for most of the degrading comments. Ironically, the series is produced by a woman.
