Monday marks not only Valentine's Day for one New Mexico couple - it is also their 82nd wedding anniversary.
On Saturday, Marshall and Winnie Kuykendall were recognized as America's longest married couple by the faith-based marriage enrichment program Worldwide Marriage Encounter.
The Kuykendalls, who were wed on Valentine's Day in 1929, beat out more than 300 couples nominated for the honor.
"What a privilege and honor it is to recognize the Kuykendalls for their commitment to marriage," said Scott and Karen Seaborn, who serve as the United States Ecclesial Team for Worldwide Marriage Encounter.
"What an inspiration Mr. and Mrs. Kuykendall are to all of us," they said. "They made a commitment to each other 82 years ago and they have kept that commitment over these many years. They truly are a sign of hope to us all."
