Pro-lifers rallied outside the doors of Planned Parenthood locations across the nation Monday, putting more heat on the giant abortion provider after recent videos revealed support for sex trafficking at seven clinics.
Activists gathered at some 200 Planned Parenthood clinics for the "Vigil for Victims" event to memorialize women caught in the sex trafficking business.
The protest was part of the "Expose Planned Parenthood" effort developed in response to undercover videos showing several Planned Parenthood workers violating laws that prevent underage and unauthorized abortions.
In the tapes -- made by the pro-life group Live Action -- employees failed to call the police to help underage girls brought in by their "pimps," and instead instructed them on how to get an illegal abortion.
"Young girls are not safe at Planned Parenthood clinics. They go in there the victims of horrible abuse and instead of being helped, instead of being rescued, they're sent back into the arms of the abusers with secret abortions and birth control," Live Action President Lila Rose said.
"And human traffickers see Planned Parenthood as a great partner because they can take their victims here, with no questions asked and no one will report any of the abuse," she continued.
David Bereit, national director of "40 Days for Life," leads similar vigils outside abortion clinics nationwide twice a year.
"Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest abortion chain. Out of their some 800 offices, over 170 of them perform abortions," Bereit said. "And while they take in a billion dollars a year, a third of that comes from taxpayer dollars."
Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser asked people to put themselves in the shoes of young girls taken to taxpayer-supported Planned Parenthood clinics.
"You find out that the government and the taxpayers are the best ally of the pimp who is keeping you in the trafficking situation, really enslaved," she said.
Bereit and other protestors want Congress to get involved.
"De-fund Planned Parenthood of the $363 million annually in taxpayer funding Planned Parenthood receives," he urged.
The Christian Post reported that Live Action teamed up with the Family Research Council and SBA List to produce a video message encouraging support for the legislation.
"We shouldn't have the leading abortion provider in America or any organization that also provides abortions be in the business of operating and doing the important work of Title 10 clinics," Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., said.
Pence is spearheading the effort on Capitol Hill against Planned Parenthood.
