The highly rated family movie night returns to network television this weekend. Walmart and Proctor & Gamble have teamed up to sponsor movies the entire family can watch together.
The two-hour film, "Change of Plans," will premiere at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 on Fox. The movie stars Brooke White from American Idol and Stargate Atlantis' Joe Flanigan. It was produced by Randy Jackson of American Idol.
The movie tells the story of a happy couple who must decide if they're willing to sacrifice their successful careers and busy lives to take care of four children.
"Change of Plans" is the fourth family film the two companies have teamed up to produce in the last nine months. The family project launched in 2010 with the film "Secrets of the Mountain," followed by "The Jensen Project" in July, and most recently "A Walk in My Shoes."
"And there is plenty of room for more family programming out there. And there is a big desire for it in families across the country," Walmart representative Ben Simon said. "I am proud to say that our first three movies have had great success. We came in either number 1 or number 2 in our time slot versus all other networks and shows.
Simon told The Christian Post that the two partners want to provide "the options that reflect the needs, the tastes and preferences of moms and families across the country."
Their vision is to create an environment where a parent doesn't have to dive for a remote control during a program. Through each film, they try to create an intersection between what moms want and what kids want to watch, he explained.
"We're trying to create an oasis for families so both the programming itself and the commercials during the programming are really a safe place for moms," he said.
