New York Subway riders aren't usually surprised to see rats inside a subway station. But they don't expect to find them riding inside the train with them.
Passengers on the Downtown #4 screamed early Tuesday morning as a rat scurried over nearly every inch of their train car. The rodent even climbed up the leg of one sleeping rider, who somehow managed to keep his cool.
Jeffrey Forde, who was riding the train at the time, pulled out his pocket camera and captured video of the rat attack.
"Some people catch it and tell the story later. Then other people like me would catch it and actually show people later," Forde said. "The rat was really trying to find somewhere to hide. The rat was more scared then everyone else was."
One rider said New Yorkers pay too much to share a train car with a rat. The price to ride the New York City subways just went up 25 cents to $2.50 one way.
