A new Pew Research study claims the Muslim population in the U.S. will more than double over the next two decades.

The nation's current Muslim population at 0.8 percent, but by 2030, Pew researchers predicted the number will double to 1.7 percent.

Worldwide, the report showed the Muslim population increasing by nearly a billion people in the next 20 years.

If the trend holds up, Muslims will soon make up more than a quarter of the world's population.
