The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has granted a license to Planned Parenthood in Overland Park to perform abortions in that state.
The news comes as new state regulations taking effect Friday make it harder for abortion clinics to get licenses.
"Women in Kansas seeking abortion services will still be able to obtain medical care at a properly licensed facility even if the statute and regulations are enforced exactly as written," the attorney general's office said.
The new rules, part of a wave of anti-abortion legislation enacted across the nation this year, mandate the types of medicine and equipment in each clinic. They've already shut down two abortion clinics in the state.
Planned Parenthood was initially denied a license, but then received one after a clinic inspection. The clinic is now the only place in Kansas where women can get abortions.
