Most schools are closed for the summer break, leaving many parents looking for something fun to do with their kids.
One Florida family decided to take family bonding to the next level. They packed a recreation vehicle and set out for a year-long trip across the U.S.
Between sports practices, music lessons, and homework, John and Kathi Belcher were missing family time. So to escape the seemingly endless rush, they packed up their four kids and set out to see America.
Over the last 12 months the Belcher family has visited all 50 states. They have toured national parks, museums, and monuments all in the name of family bonding.
"We all know each other really well. Which is weird. You think you know your family well until you spend a year in a tiny tin box," Kathi Belcher said.
"My 9-year-old on a blank map can write out all 50 states. I don't think before we started this trip I could do that," John Belcher explained.
Kathi homeschooled the four children during their trip. She said that being on the road has given the kids experiences they never could have had if they were in a classroom.
