The death of a child is every parent's worst nightmare come true. Steve and Maryanne Abbate lived that nightmare when their 15-year-old son Luke was killed in a car accident in February of 2006.
"It changed the landscape of the family," Maryanne told Christian Cinema. "And you hate that because you want to shield your children as much as you can."
The Abbates used their son's death to save the lives of five people by donating their son's organs.
"This is a path we were meant to go down," Steve Abbate said, "to use what happened to Luke to help others."
"I know that won't be everybody's journey," his wife said. "But it was our journey."
The newly released motion picture titled "5th Quarter" documents the Abbate family's painful journey.
