A new report from the Giving USA Foundation reveals Americans are giving more to charity than in recent years.
The group found that charitable donations jumped by at least $10 billion in 2010.
The Giving USA Foundation also reported that individuals and corporations donated $280 billion in 2009. In 2010, that number increased to nearly $291 billion.
Even so, charities are still facing hard times.
"Many non-profits are still hurting," said Patrick Rooney, executive director of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University
He added that the rebound in charitable giving is good news, but that if giving continues to grow at the 2010 rate, it will still take five to six more years just to return to the level of giving seen before the recession.
