A man who struggled to survive in Germany during World War II wants to thank three soldiers who helped him over 50 years ago.
He has sent postcards to Pittsburgh, Penn., with the hope the cards reach the war heroes.
Back in 1948, Horst Feld was just a 10-year-old child struggling to survive in Germany.
It was the kindness of the three American soldiers who kept he and his family alive.
"He and his family were actually starving as children and these soldiers helped them," said Darlene Harris of the Pittsburgh City Council. "Even at Christmas time, they bought gifts for the children. "(We're) hoping we can find one of these three soldiers."
The mystery soldiers continued to send care packages every month for three years after the war.
Feld believes it's his call to duty to finally say "thank you."
