The U.S. Air Force Academy now has a chapel designated for earth-centered religions.
Cadet Chapel Falcon Circle was dedicated on top of a 7,200-foot hill Tuesday that overlooks the main cadet chapel.
The chapel was built as part of an effort to reach people of all earth-based religions, including Wiccan, paganism, New Age and the Druids.
While the chapel may be used by people from all faiths, earth-centered groups will be granted priority in utilizing the facility.
"This is very important for us, we didn't have a place to call our own, to be outside in nature," said Cadet Nicole Johnson, a member of an earth-centered group, told the Colorado Springs Gazette.
The Air Force Academy has been promoting religious tolerance since 2004, when a survey revealed some cadets felt ostracized because of their religious preferences.
