First Lady Michelle Obama is encouraging churches to help make a difference in the lives of military families.
A video will be sent to churches over Memorial Day weekend as part of her "Joining Forces" campaign. Watch Michelle Obama's entire message to churches here.
The White House said the effort is to not only honor U.S. troops for their sacrifices, but also take time to give them something in return.
"You can rally your youth groups to serve these families. You can host programs to help families deal with the stresses of war. You can partner with an existing program or ministry that serves military families," Mrs. Obama said.
"Or you can use your respected voices to shine a light on the sacrifices and contributions these families are making," she said. "Each one of us can do something."
Mrs. Obama added that helping can be as simple as raking leaves, shoveling snow, or offering to babysit for a military family with a loved one deployed.
