Mother's Day will be celebrated Sunday in the U.S., so if you haven't picked up something special for your mom, you only have a few days left to do so.
The holiday was created in 1908 by a Anna Jarvis.
Two years after her mother's death in 1905, Jarvis held a memorial to her mother and thereafter embarked upon a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday. She wanted to set aside a day to celebrate all the accomplishments of mothers.
In 1914, she achieved her goal when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the very first nationwide Mothers Day to be celebrated on the second Sunday of May.
Just in time for the holiday, there's a new book on motherhood that's just been released titled Help Wanted: Moms Raising Daughters by Darlene Brock. CBN News recently interviewed Brock about her new book and all the different roles that moms must embrace when raising their daughters in today's society.
