A conservative federal appeals court upheld President Obama's health care law Tuesday, setting the stage for a fight before the U.S. Supreme Court.
In a split opinion, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia dismissed a suit by the American Center for Law and Justice that claimed parts of the law unconstitutional.
Similar lawsuits against the requirement that all Americans buy health insurance have been working their way through the legal system.
Some courts have upheld the law, while others have opposed it.
Court watchers believe the Supreme Court will have the final say on the law. The high court is expected to decide soon on whether to accept appeals from other rulings.
