The question of whether the universe was created by God or by scientific accident has been a decades-long debate.

But creators of the new film "The Genesis Code" say there shouldn't be a conflict between the biblical account of creation and scientific theory.

The movie follows the story of two college students, one a Christian writer and the other a popular athlete who feels science disproves the Bible.

As the two struggle to agree, they realize their beliefs may have more in common than they initially thought.

"Could it be that what science teaches us about creation and the story as told in Genesis are both true and in perfect accord?" the producers ask in the movie synopsis.

CBN News spoke with executive producer Jerry Zandstra about the message behind 'The Genesis Code.' He also stars in the film.
