President Obama is standing up for Liberty and Peace -- the names chosen for the 45-pound turkeys pardoned at the White House on Wednesday.

Their names were selected from more than a hundred submissions.

Liberty is the official national Thanksgiving turkey. Peace is the alternate.

The pardoning is part of an annual Thanksgiving tradition.
    
Now that their lives have been spared, Liberty and Peace will retire to the historic home of George Washington in nearby Mount Vernon, Va.
