While everyone likes a good bargain, Black Friday can have a darker meaning for store employees.
And with some retailers planning to start sales even earlier this year, many workers will find themselves at work in the middle of the night.
When Target employee Anthony Hardwick heard of his store's plan to open at midnight Nov. 25, he protested.
Hardwick launched a petition on the website Change.org, asking Target to go back to its usual 5 a.m. Black Friday schedule.
"A midnight opening robs the hourly and in-store salary workers of time off with their families on Thanksgiving Day," he said.
So far, more than 182,000 people have signed the "Tell Target to Save Thanksgiving" petition.
CBN News spoke with Hardwick about his protest and why it's so important to him. Click play for his comments.
