Police in Arizona are on the hunt for two men suspected of stealing a statue of Jesus from a Phoenix church.
Parishioners at Saint Theresa Catholic Parish hope the thieves will have a change of heart and return the statue.
Father Chuck Kieffer told the Arizona Republic that the 4-foot tall, bronze figure is worth about $10,000.
However, what parishioners appreciate most about it is that it symbolizes Jesus welcoming everyone.
"You somehow think that a sacred object would be a little safer, especially one that's bolted down to a marble cube," Kieffer said.
So far, surveillance video has provided the main lead in the case. It shows a man loading the statue into the back of a pick-up truck.
Kieffer said he hopes the thieves will use the experience to reconsider their relationship with God.
