Colorado Lawmakers Revive Prayer Caucus

Lawmakers in Colorado are reviving a prayer caucus in an effort to "uphold Judeo-Christian principles."
More than two dozen members of the state House and Senate plan to meet during the legislative session to talk about their faith and pray.
The Colorado Legislative Prayer Caucus has not decided how often they will meet. The group is comprised of 25 Republicans and two Democrats.
Sen. Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley, co-chairman of the new caucus, says it's important for lawmakers to reflect on their faith.

According to a press release, the goals of the caucus are to:

  • Ensure that Christian beliefs have unfettered access in the marketplace of ideas.
  •  Reverse the dismantling of our nation's Judeo-Christian foundation.
  • Sustain and equip leaders to uphold Judeo-Christian principles in government.
  • Create the architecture within federal and state governments for the protection of religious and individual freedom.
  • Communicate the constitutional truths that establish America's freedom.
  • Protect public expression of prayer and faith in God.
