In honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, thousands are expected to gather to pray in New York City and across the nation this weekend.
A spiritual awakening group known as Cry Out America is helping to organize Saturday's event in lower Manhattan.
A Sunday morning prayer is also planned to coincide with the times of the 9/11 attacks. Thousands of churches are expected to take time to remember the historical day.
"On this 10th anniversary of the attacks on 9/11, we are reminded once again that America is a nation that needs God," said Cry Out America organizer Billy Wilson. "That we are a wounded nation in many ways and we need healing."
"We need a new spirit of unity and more importantly, we feel that we are at the beginnings of and we desperately need a spiritual awakening in America in the 21st century," he added.
