Murray Energy Corporation is blaming the Obama administration's "war on coal" for the closure of one of its mines in Brilliant, Ohio.
General Manager Michael T.W. Carey said the closure was brought on by heavy regulations imposed by the Obama administration.
"Mr. Obama has already destroyed 83,000 megawatts of coal-fired electricity generation in America," he said in a statement.
Vice President of Operations Ryan Murray predicted, "There will be additional layoffs, not only at Murray Energy, but also throughout the United States coal industry due to Mr. Obama's 'war on coal.' "
At its peak in 2009, the coal mining operation had 293 employees.
Now the business has 56 employees who will lose their jobs when the mine closes in the fall. Some of those workers are expected to receive jobs at another Murray Energy location.
