Swimmer Michael Phelps officially became the most decorated Olympian of all time Tuesday night, breaking a 48-year record.
Phelps won his 19th medal in the 4x200 meter freestyle relay.
"It has been a pretty amazing career but we still have a couple races to go," he said.
His training partner, American Allison Schmitt, won the 200 meter freestyle with a performance that left everyone else, including teammate Missy Franklin, far behind.
Meanwhile, the U.S. women's gymnastics team, dubbed the "Fab Five," lived up to their top spot in the rankings. The women won America's first women's gymnastics team gold since 1996.
Currently, the United States and China are still tied in the overall medal count, both with 23.
