US Soccer Team Battles Canada for Olympic Gold

The United States is almost neck-and-neck with China in the medal count, with the U.S. trailing 64 to 63.

The U.S. women's soccer team is heading to the gold medal match against Japan Tuesday after Monday's 4 to 3 double overtime win against Canada.

Alex Morgan realized her childhood dream, scoring the winning goal only 30 seconds before the game would be sent into a penalty kick shootout.

"I watched the Olympics when I was a little girl," Morgan told USA Today.

"I remember watching the Beijing finals and it was about 4 or 5 a.m. our time in California," she recalled. "And I was one of the only ones who woke up to watch the match. And at that moment I knew, I'm going to be on this team next Olympics."

Meanwhile, American athletes are continuing to fight Tuesday for the gold in track and field.
