Michigan lawmakers are working on a bill that could ban Sharia law in their state. Now a Muslim activist group is fighting back.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, is urging Gov. Rick Snyder to veto any legislation that would block Islamic law.
The Michigan House of Representatives considered the bill Tuesday.
The measure would prohibit the inclusion of any "foreign laws" that would undermine "constitutional rights." It does not mention Islam at all.
At least 20 states are considering similar measures.
