A deadly monster storm is marching across the country and delivering an early white Christmas to millions. 

The first major snow of the season shut down major highways across the Midwest and killed at least five people.

The blizzard has already triggered more than a thousand car accidents from Nebraska to Wisconsin. And in Iowa, there was a 25-car pileup on I-35.

The storm has also knocked out power to 400,000 homes in nine states. The southern part of the storm brought thunder to Alabama and an EF1 tornado.

The storm now continues to move northeast.
