Bishop Eddie Long's New Birth Christian Academy has shut down indefinitely after 18 years due to financial difficulties.
"It is a very sad occasion, as the NBCA board has made the tough decision to temporarily close the school," school officials informed parents in letter dated Dec. 22.
"Funding estimates fell far short of the school's needs," they explained.
The private school had 221 students from grades K through 12.
"The DeKalb County School System will coordinate with any students looking to transition from private schools or other schools, as we would with any students transitioning with the start of the new semester," district spokesman Walter Woods told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
News of the school closing comes just after Long's wife filed for divorce.
Last year, Long settled lawsuits with four young men who accused him of coercing them to have sex with the mega-church pastor.
