Sami Osmakac, a 25-year-old man from former Yugoslavia, was arrested Monday for plotting terrorist attacks on several popular areas is Tampa.

Osmakac is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Kosovo. Authorities are now describing him as an Islamic extremist.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Osmakac recorded an eight-minute video shortly before his arrest, saying he wanted to bring terror to his "victims' hearts" and get "payback" for the wrongs he felt were done to Muslims.

FBI agents arrested Osmakac Saturday and he appeared in federal court Monday.

His alleged targets included local Tampa Bay nightclubs and a sheriff's office.

Authorities say Osmakac, who was living in a small city west of Tampa, was charged with one count of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.
