Theater Shooting Victim's Birth Defect Saves Life

A miracle has emerged from the tragic shooting spree in Colorado. One of the victims who was shot in the head is making an amazing recovery, and her pastor is giving glory to God.

Petra Anderson was hit four times by buckshot in the Aurora mall movie theater. Her pastor, Brad Strait, reports on his blog that one bullet went through her nose and all the way through her brain before hitting the back of her head.

Doctors placed Anderson, 22, in intensive care, predicting the worst, including possible severe brain damage.

But when brain surgeons went in they found Anderson had a birth defect that allowed the bullet to pass all the way through her brain without causing much damage. She had an extra vein that created a tiny channel, and the bullet traveled right through it.

Pastor Strait attributes it to God's "prevenient grace," pointing out that God knows our future from the day we're born.

He writes that it's "God working ahead of time for a particular event in the future. It's just like the God I follow to plan the route of a bullet through a brain long before Batman ever rises."

Anderson is now beginning to recover and has even been able to talk.
