From Montana to Louisiana, a heat wave is baking much of the United States, Thursday.

More than a thousand high temperature records were broken in the last week and more are expected.

Climate experts say records aren't usually broken until July and August.

The heat is mostly in the central and western United States right now, but forecasters expect it to hit the East Coast by the weekend.
