Pitcher John Smoltz on 'Starting and Closing' Well

Ad Feedback

For more than 20 seasons, baseball great John Smoltz terrorized hitters with a 98-mile per hour heater - and a devastating slider.

On Friday, the Atlanta Braves will induct the 45-year-old into the Braves Hall of Fame and retire his No. 29 jersey.

Few would disagree that he's effectively secured a place in baseball lore.

But he says in his new book, Starting and Closing: Perseverance, Faith, and One More Year, that he'd be "disappointed" if he left this earth and was only remembered as a good pitcher.

Smoltz talked with Lee Webb more about his famed baseball career and the legacy of faith he hopes to leave behind. Click play to watch.
