A Christian legal group has dropped its lawsuit against the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, claiming victory in a dispute over the religious rights of student groups.
"Make Up Your Own Mind" is a pro-abstinence, pro-life group. The university originally ruled the group would not be considered religious.
That designation however would have required them to open membership and leadership to all students regardless of their religious beliefs.
The university has now reversed that decision and the group will be allowed access to university facilities and funding.
A similar conflict is taking place on a much broader scale at Vanderbilt University.
School officials there are requiring all student groups to allow anyone to participate and become leaders, even if those students disagree with the religious beliefs or core philosophies of those groups.
Christian groups at Vanderbilt say their rights are being violated.
