Recovery in the Northeast after superstorm Sandy is slow, but CBN's Operation Blessing is helping to speed things up in New York and New Jersey.
Volunteers are spread throughout the states distributing food and rebuilding damaged homes, like that of Rockaway Beach, N.Y., resident Joseph Ferrer, whose home was flooded.
"My mother's car and my car were totally submerged under water. My apartment and all my belongings in there were destroyed," Ferrer said.
"Operation Blessing was a big help. I am blessed that they came and helped me and my mom through this work that would have taken me more than a couple of days to do this by myself," he added.
Among other New York communities, Operation Blessing is helping rebuild in Breezy Point and Mystic Island. They also organized mass food distribution in Coney Island.
Help from aid group is a comfort to many New Yorkers who are beyond frustrated that power has yet to be stored. Communities expressed gratitude to Operation Blessing for their efforts to speed up the recovery process.
