The president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops vowed the Church will never comply with the Obama administration's mandate to provide birth control coverage in health insurance.
The mandate includes providing coverage for sterilization and drugs that induce abortions.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan said the bishops are open to talks with the government about the requirement.
He made it clear, however, that they planned to keep challenging the mandate in legislatures and the courts.
"I would say no door is closed except for the door to capitulation," he said.
