Catholic and Protestant protesters hoping to stop free birth control access under President Barack Obama's health care law were arrested in front of the White House over the weekend.
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, said 22 protestors were arrested Saturday for demonstrating in a restricted area.
The "Acts 5:29" demonstrations are scheduled to continue through Tuesday. The protest name coincides with Scripture instructing the apostles to obey God and not man.
Participants are refusing to comply with the new health care mandate that will require employers to provide coverage for birth control.
Many religious groups that don't believe in birth control and other requirements in the law have said the mandate violates their moral conscience and religious freedom.
The mandate would also cover the drug Plan B, which protestors believe induces abortions.
