Christian leaders from a variety of backgrounds are calling for prayer for America in the days leading up to the presidential election.

The Southern Baptist Convention is asking people to pray every day for the country before voters go to the polls.

Various prayer organizations and websites have also called for intercession. Beliefnet reports that the groups are asking for God's help and his purposes for America.

Christians also recently came together in Philadelphia from across the country for the "America for Jesus" rally.

They prayed for a spiritual renewal and that Americans would come together as one nation under God.
