George Beverly Shea was being buried Monday in a private funeral ceremony on the grounds of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, N.C.
Shea went home to be with the Lord last week at the age of 104.
The 94-year-old Rev. Billy Graham attended Sunday's public funeral at Anderson Auditorium in Montreat, N.C., for his longtime friend and lead singer, but he didn't speak.
Instead, the third member of the crusade team, music director Cliff Barrows, read Shea's eulogy.
Barrows said the Spirit of God used Shea "to prepare the ears of the people for the message, and he would prepare Billy's heart to preach that message."
In a written statement, Graham said "I have lost one of the best friends I have ever had, but he and I look forward to seeing each other in heaven relatively soon."
