Hawaii Faith Groups Lobby for Preschool Funding

Religious groups in Hawaii are protesting the governor's proposed preschool program.

They say it gives secular schools an unfair advantage and want to see a version of the bill that allows funding for faith-based institutions.

Representatives of the Hawaii Catholic Conference told a state House committee that parents should have a choice in where to educate their children.

A Baptist group said that faith-based organizations provide more than 50 percent of preschool education in Hawaii.
