Officials in Oregon are following up on a complaint a gay couple filed against a Christian-owned bakery.
The couple had asked Sweet Cakes by Melissa to make their wedding cake, but the bakery owners refused on religious grounds.
The state's Bureau of Labor and Industries decided to investigate whether the bakery violated a state law passed in 2007.
The law protects against discrimination of homosexual, bisexual, and transgender people in public accommodations.
Exemptions from the law extend to religious organizations but not to private business owners.
