A North Carolina abortion clinic has been closed down by the state.
Health officials suspended FemCare's license, saying it broke 23 health and safety rules.
The clinic used damaged anesthesia supplies, did not mop the operating room floors, or keep clean operating beds. It didn't even ensure proper emergency equipment for patients.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services said the violations put the health and safety of women at risk.
FemCare was the only abortion clinic in Asheville. It plans to address the violations in an attempt to reopen.
