Three Alabama lawmakers are working to ensure that the Ten Commandments can be displayed in any public building in the state.
The Alabama Religious Freedom Amendment is a proposed safeguard against lawsuits trying to ban the commandments.
The bill is being sponsored by Sen.Gerald Dial. Sens. Shadrack McGill of Jackson and DeKalb counties and Clay Scofield of Marshall County are also on board.
Several private groups have offered to provide funding if a suit is filed.
