Christian singer and evangelist Carman Licciardello, who goes by the stage name "Carman," is undergoing treatment for terminal cancer.
Carman made the announcement via Facebook earlier this month that he has myeloma cancer and has been given three to four years to live. Myeloma cancer attacks the immune system, making the person vulnerable to sickess.
In a Facebook post to some 51,000 fans, Carmen asked for prayer but said that he will continue to minister and win souls until he can't do it any longer.
"My life has always been about ministry," he said.
Carman said he has begun the process of treatment, including a bone marrow transplant.
"I get the results of the bone biopsy and new blood tests on Wednesday at 3:00 I'll have a 3 day in depth examination in Ohio on March 4-6," Carman told Facebook fans in a post on Monday.
He asked that his fans not use his Facebook page to post cancer remedies and treatments. Instead he encouraged them to come and see him when he's in their area and bring someone who doesn't know the Lord or who needs to be healed.
Carman has received 15 gold and platinum albums and videos and has sold more than 10 million records.
He is currently on tour and his tour dates are on his website through July. The singer is 57 years old.
