The romantic drama "Safe Haven" finds a mysterious twenty-something named Katie, played by Julianne Hough, on the run from a dark past.
Upon reaching the small coastal town of Southport, N.C., she finds herself drawn to Alex, a widowed single father of two. Secrets from her former life, however, impede their budding romance.
"Safe Haven is perhaps two-thirds romance and one-third intense-and surprisingly violent-thriller. It is also a very typical Nicholas Sparks story. Which is to say, there's a lot of sweetness here," writes Plugged In Online film critic Adam R. Holz.
"I mean, how can you not root for an abused young woman on the run and the lonely widower with two adorable kids?" Holtz asks.
Bob Waliszewski, director of Plugged In Online, offered his take on "Safe Haven" and other films, on CBN News Channel Morning News, Feb. 15.
