Some of the coldest temperatures in years are settling across a large part of the United States Tuesday.
In Indianapolis, the wind chill is well below zero, the coldest in four years. Dangerous sub-zero winds and blowing snow are keeping students home from school.
In Detroit, wicked winds uprooted trees and knocked down power lines, leaving hundreds of thousands in the cold and the dark.
The wintry blast of snow and ice is causing nasty road conditions. Highways in North Dakota are barely drivable and temperatures there are 20 below zero.
Up to three feet of snow also fell on upstate New York and New England is bracing for up to a foot of snow.
