Hollywood's latest action thriller, "Pacific Rim," is being released in theaters across the nation Friday. The director, Guillermo del Toro, is best known for "Clash of the Titans," but this could be his biggest movie yet.
The film stars heavy hitters like Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day and tells a story that is "packed with the kind of humans-vs.-the-apocalypse bravery, heroism and sacrifice that we're used to seeing in summer spectacles," according to Plugged In Online film reviewer Adam R. Holz.
Some critics are calling it the summer blockbuster to watch, but Holz warns there's sexual and violent content that may cause parents to think twice.
A comical alternative would be the new release "Grown Ups 2," starring Adam Sandler, Selma Hayek, and Chris Rock.
It tells the tale of a man named Lenny who relocates his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. Only now it's the grown-ups learning lessons from their kids, and it all happens on the last day of school.
Among other questionable content, Plugged In Online film reviewer Paul Asay warns of overt references to homosexuality.
Bob Waliszewski, director of Plugged In Online, reviews "Grown Ups 2," and "Pacific"," on CBN's Morning News, July 12.
