The New York Times best seller Heaven is Real is on its way to the big screen.

It's exciting news for those who like to see their favorite books come to life. The movie will star actor Greg Kinnear as Todd Burpo.

The book is based on the true story of Colton Burpo, a four-year-old who almost died during an emergency operation.

As he was undergoing surgery, Colton went to heaven. He shared his experience with his parents during recovery.

"And that's where I got to see heaven. Jesus and some angels came and flew me up to heaven. I was upset because I didn't know what was happening. What God did is He used people or things that I liked to calm me down," the young Burpo said.

The boy shared with his parents details about their lives that were impossible for him to know, including an answered prayer to his father Todd.

"Jesus came to me and said, 'Colton you need to go back.' Even though I didn't want to go back, He said that He was answering my dad's prayer," Burpo said.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release around Easter 2014.
