Monsoon rains brought treacherous flooding to parts of Arizona Sunday.
The heavy rains left part of Highway 60 in the Phoenix area under water. Cars became stuck and were almost covered up to their roofs in water as roads turned into rivers.
Several motorists who were trapped in their vehicles had to be rescued when they tried to drive through floodwaters.
In Tucson, three children, ages 8, 10 and 12, were rescued after being caught in a flash flood while playing in a wash that wasn't running. Authorities found them stuck on a sand bar.
Homeowners were flooded out as well. Resident Flavia Easley estimated she had 5 feet of water in her basement.
"To see a wall of water coming toward you there's nothing you can do?" she said. "I have two eight-foot glass doors and the water just started rising."
"Rising water started coming in around the sides. Two minutes after that the doors burst open and a wall of water came through my basement," she explained.
The rain is expected to end in a few days.
