Extreme weather is working its way up the eastern seaboard, including a tornado that touched down near the nation's capital Thursday. Downed trees and power lines now litter the D.C. Area.
The weather turned deadly in Richmond, VA. High winds knocked down a tree, killing a young boy.
When the stormed moved from Virginia to Maryland, it spawned a tornado near Baltimore with winds of more than 50 miles an hour, two inches of rain and water spouts on Chesapeake Bay.
Flooding was the problem in West Virginia where several people had to be rescued with a lifeline after being trapped by floodwaters. Meanwhile, in New Jersey a roadway was turned into a lake.
The storm even forced the U.S. Open to come to a hault in tournament play at Ardmore, Pennsylvania's Merion Golf Club. However, the first round of play resumed Friday morning.
